BOOK: Troubles and Treats (chocolate lovers #3) by Tara Sivec
MY RATING FOR IT: 3 1/2 stars
SYNOPSIS
Drew and Jenny have spent years being the envy of their friends with their out of control sex lives – well, not really. Mostly it makes their friends want to throw up in their mouths a little.
With two little kids and two busy lives, for the first time, Drew and Jenny aren’t on the same page in the bedroom. Drew will stop at nothing to get his previously amorous wife back in the sack, and Jenny will do anything for a full night of sleep.
Carter and Claire, and Jim and Liz are their usual (un)helpful selves and are full of advice for the discontented duo, wanting nothing more than to help restore order to the usually happy couple’s lives.
In the third and final installment of the Chocolate Lovers Series, will Drew and Jenny find the spark that’s been missing in their marriage, or will the trouble they’re having cause a stickier situation than the time Jenny poured honey all over Drew and he fused himself to a tree?
MY THOUGHTS ABOUT IT
This is a series that I love, there are funny and witty and very politically incorrect but in a super hilarious way , BUUUUUT….
… I didn’t love this one , which is kind of sad , I don’t know what happened but it was very hard to connect with the story , the first 5 chapters where a bit tedious to me , eventually I enjoy it , but it was not an easy read like the previous ones.
Drew was funny but at times it was tooo over the top in his plans, there’s so much one can believe that a normal woman can understand in a husband.
Jenny was kind of blah in this book, she actually losses her sex mojo during most of the book, which made it difficult to connect because that is one of her characteristic trades as a character.
The kids where amazing I still love Gavin and their interactions where very funny.
Claire and Carter where as great as ever and Lisa and Jim too, I guess my problem is that I don’t find Drew and Jenny that interesting to begin with, yes they’re funny in an over the top crazy sex life kind of way and yes they are a bit unusual in their own way, but overall I just don’t find them that interesting.
I did laugh a lot at some parte (mostly from the middle of the book forward) but I just didn’t love it like the rest of them.
Hopefully the Chocoholics series will make me a believer again, because this books are supposed to be easy, fun , light , reading to me and this last one felt like work at times.
