BOOK: Gone Girl by Gillian Flynn
MY RATING FOR IT: 4 stars
SYNOPSIS
On a warm summer morning in North Carthage, Missouri, it is Nick and Amy Dunne’s fifth wedding anniversary. Presents are being wrapped and reservations are being made when Nick’s clever and beautiful wife disappears. Husband-of-the-Year Nick isn’t doing himself any favors with cringe-worthy daydreams about the slope and shape of his wife’s head, but passages from Amy’s diary reveal the alpha-girl perfectionist could have put anyone dangerously on edge. Under mounting pressure from the police and the media—as well as Amy’s fiercely doting parents—the town golden boy parades an endless series of lies, deceits, and inappropriate behavior. Nick is oddly evasive, and he’s definitely bitter—but is he really a killer?
MY THOUGHTS ABOUT IT
Ok, ok ok!!!! I know, I’m soooooo late with a review with this book that is really old by now, but what can I say??? I just wasn’t in to it … at first.
I had these book since 2015 and just read it like 2 months ago ( shame on me , I know) it was one of those books that you start reading and go , mmm yeah it’s not for me … buuuuuuut … it just so happens that it was so GOOD!!!!!
It was my first non romance book in ages ( it was my first book at all in ages !! ) I was kind of in a rut and was trying to find the fun in reading again, so I decided to give a go at some of the old book in my IPad, and this one was the first one in the list… it was good choice!!!
I never saw the movie so I had no preconceived notions of what the story was about, which was a big plus I guess.
The story is about married couple, Nick and Amy Dunne. They are supposed to celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary on that night but Nick realizes that Amy has gone missing And there seems to have been a struggle in their Livingroom and things don’t look too promising for Amy. Also big detail the #1 suspect appears to be Nick.
The story is told some chapters in Nick’s POV (present day), and Amy’s POV is told thru some r journal entries, that seemed to be from a previous time starting at the time they got to know each other and started dating.
I can’t say much without getting in to the plot and ruining it for you (if you are the last person on earth besides me that has not read it yet) but I just have to tell you that this is one FUCKED UP GROUP OF PEOPLE!!! Some are slightly more likable and human at times, but very flawed none the less.
This book was kind of slow at first and that was the main reason why it took me soooo long to get in the mood to read it , but once I got the flow going it got good quick and it really picked up the pace with one twist after the next , and one mystery after another , which made me want to read it more and more, it was so entertaining , I was literally consumed by this book at one point and it was a great reminder of what books make you feel when you engage with a good story.
I did finished it, and it was with a sense of dread for the human race( jah) , and a bit of a sour taste in my mouth with the finishing part, but overall it was an excellent read and even though not 100% within the type of book I normally read it at least it made me reconsider the wonderful array of story’s I have yet to read … so I think I’m back to the book this year.
